The concept of Isle Lake Feed Supply kind of fell in my lap by way of a friend over for coffee. I was lamenting about the difficulty of getting the mineral tubs, SweetPro, up for my horses. Strathmore wasn't close, and although I preferred this mineral over all others I had used, it was a pain to get. My friend, "why don't you just start selling it? You know, we really could use a feed store around here..."

That was all it took. My mind started whirring. I love animal husbandry, am passionate about feed and nutrition, and boy it would be nice to have a feed store out here! That was February 2019. 

By June, the seed of an idea had fully sprouted. Plans were drawn up, contacts were made, paperwork filed, etc, etc. Yes, this was a viable plan. The feed suppliers and bank agreed, and the date was set. Coming Soon! September 2019! It sounds easy, it was everything but.

It was a whirlwind of a startup, as I continued to work full-time and build my business on the side. Buildings had to be completed, permits filed, shelves and a desk built, and oh so much paperwork. My husband and our families pitched in in whatever way they could so that come September, right on time, the doors officially opened.

I love my job. It was the job I didn't know I wanted. I love learning about the products, and about what each type of animal truly requires in their diet. I love problem solving. Weight, mineral deficiencies, and intake issues, I love them all. I love meeting my farming neighbours. I love that the education I had always wanted to go and get, in livestock and equine nutrition management, that previously I had held as a pipe dream because I couldn't justify the time and expense, is now a business necessity. I can't wait to get signed up to further my education in a field I am very passionate about.

Now fully open, Isle Lake Feed Supply is working towards having all of your livestock, equine, and pet food needs. We've got several lines of quality horse feed and minerals, poultry feed, cattle feed and minerals, goat and sheep feed and minerals, milk replacers, dog and cat food for every budget and feed program, and more! We are also working on expanding our line to include over-the-counter livestock medications and everything a producer needs for calving season! We want to become your local One-Stop feed specialist. We also offer some great discounts on bulk products, to help make buying feed more affordable for every producer and hobbyist.

Sometimes having a cup of coffee with a friend can lead you down an unexpected path. And I'm always ready to put the kettle on.
